The British Council has received reports regarding the potential leakage of the Year 6 and Year 8 exams administered this week. We can assure parents and pupils that there has been no leak of tests from the British Council Egypt and we are working with our UK exam board partner to investigate unconfirmed reports that details of these exams may have come from outside of Egypt. We administer UK qualifications and exams worldwide, and have overseen these for 80 years in Egypt where we hold 150,000 exams annually. We have solid procedures to ensure the integrity and security of UK qualifications, which includes strict control of exam papers. We are the primary administrators for all UK school qualifications in Egypt.

The Year 6 and Year 8 exams conducted this week (23, 24 and 26 April 2018) are tests primarily designed to identify learners’ strengths and weaknesses and give advice on future learning and development. We appreciate that these reports can be frustrating and concerning, please be assured that the best interests of our students in Egypt will be sought. As of now resits are not planned. The British Council and our exam board partners take these matters very seriously.
