Cairo, 1 October 2015 – The British Council in Egypt is delighted to announce its first ‘My Right Grants to Arts’ fund today 1 October 2015 through an open call for applications on its website. The aim of the grants is to support young Egyptian artists in all fields to raise awareness on Violence against Women. The deadline for receiving applications is 25 October 2015 and a priority will be given to Cairo, Alexandria, Tanta (El Gharbia governorate), and Aswan governorates.
The art presented will support the British Council’s programme ‘My Right’, which is funded by the British Council and UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which aims to support initiatives tackling violence against women and girls. The grantees are expected to be able to reflect the issue of violence against women in Egypt and promote the services that our Women Support Centres provide. The grants scheme is open to Egyptian citizens and organizations currently practising in one of the following art forms; music, film, theatre, literature, dance, visual arts and design. There are no strict age limits but applicants are expected to be in their final year of university or beyond.
