The British Council is delighted to open the 2014 call for workshop proposals under its Researcher Links initiative.  The aim of the initiative is to invite Leading Researchers to propose themes for bilateral workshops to be held in Egypt, which will bring together early-career researchers to discuss their research and start to build international relationships.

Successful Leading Researcher applicants will receive funding and will be responsible for organising the workshops in Egypt between 1 October 2014 and 1 March 2015.  Egypt has priority areas: Renewable energy, with an emphasis on solar and wind, Water, including desalination, 

Irrigation and groundwater management, Food and agriculture, Health, including hepatitis C, cancer and obesity; pharmacology, Information technology, Space – remote sensing and earth sciences, Education, Mineral resources, Veterinary medicine, Affordable and inclusive healthcare, Archaeology and cultural heritage.  Only themes within these areas will be considered.  

Interested applicants may:

1) visit the British Council website 

2) read the guidelines  

3) fill out the application form  

4) submit it no later than 9 June 2014. 

The British Council launched Researcher Links initiative in partnership with various research and higher education organisations from around the world.  In Egypt, the Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF) and the British Council have signed and an agreement in April 2014.

The Researcher Links initiative supports bilateral workshops for early-career scientists from the UK and Egypt, with the aim of establishing future research collaborations.
