Dr. Hashem Taher

University of East London, Cardiff University

Dr Hashem is the youngest Egyptian Associate Dean for the School of Creative Arts, University of Hertfordshire (hosted by GAF). He is an international award winner who won Hassan Fathi Prize, ArchiPrix, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Scholarship for Academic Excellence and many more. He holds a Master’s degree from Cardiff University and a PhD from the University of East London (UEL).
Hashem's PhD research and environmental studies were the cornerstone to making London the biggest national park in the world by 2050. Hashem's research outcomes have affected the lives of 9.8 million Londoners directly and indirectly by transforming central London's polluted streets into green corridors. Hashem continued his pursuit of fighting climate change when he returned to Egypt. He worked with H.E. Minister Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, and H.E. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, to support their work in COP27.

Marwa Saied

Marwa is the principal investigator and the executive manager of the Cancer Genetics Unit, the first unit at Alexandria University dealing with high throughput genomic investigations using next-generation sequencing (NGS). Marwa’s work in performing different panels of hotspot/driver genes in cancer assists in determining the suitable drug treatment for each cancer patient.  

Marwa is establishing this new technique in her homeland through the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, and is also assisting other universities in Egypt in establishing their genomic excellence centres. 

 

Mohamed Kamal

University of Leeds

Mohamed is a Public Health Engineer with over 5 years of expertise in environmental management, waste management, plastic pollution, and climate consulting. His experience spans projects conducted across the MENA region and Africa. He is the Director of the Greenish Foundation, a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to addressing Egypt's pressing climate and environmental issues through education, research, and advocacy. Mohamed holds a Master’s degree in water, sanitation and health engineering from the University of Leeds.
