Five years ago we helped establish a modern English language centre at Al-Azhar University in Cairo.

At the centre we provide policy advice, management training, teacher training and classroom instruction. We also run a cultural awareness programme and a course called ‘English for Religious Purposes’, which enables students to discuss their beliefs.

Since the centre’s inception, more than 650 students have studied there, of which 31 have travelled to the UK for further study. Three graduates now hold academic positions at the university.

Additionally, we work with the Al-Azhar schools network to give teachers training and classroom support to help them deliver high-quality English language training to their students.
