Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at UK universities. Chevening offers future leaders the opportunity to pursue one-year Master’s degrees (although some awards are for tailor-made short courses) in any subject and at any of the UK’s leading universities.
In order to receive a Chevening Scholarship, all applicants must demonstrate that they have fulfilled the Chevening English language requirement. Chevening accepts both the IELTS Academic and IELTS Academic for UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) with a minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum score for each component of 5.5.
