The British Council and the League of Arab States (LAS) launched the first Symposium on employability, skills and opportunities for young people in the Middle East and North Africa in Cairo in January 2015. The Symposium provided a unique opportunity to bring together leaders from the worlds of government, business, academia and civil society to discuss the challenges facing the countries of the region in developing the skills of young people, both in the education system and as part of wider labour market strategies.
The Symposium External Report highlights the key discussions that took place during the Symposium, the insights shared and the ideas generated as potential outcomes that could sustain the momentum of the event. The British Council and the League of Arab States welcome further feedback on any of the points raised in this report and look forward to working closely with the individuals and institutions that helped to make the inaugural Symposium a success.
