We have always believed that culture connects us, and at times of uncertainty, this is more important than ever.

Through our Culture Connects programme we support organisations, artists and cultural leaders in Egypt and the UK to make international connections; produce new work and share existing work with engaged audiences; and build their creative practice, knowledge and skills. We do this in three ways:

Connecting Cultural Professionals

We provide cultural professionals with opportunities to connect and network. Through conferences, delegations, festivals, and similar gatherings, participants share insights into their creative practices and the unique aspects of their respective countries. This exchange not only enhances visibility but also fosters deeper engagements and meaningful connections between the UK and Egypt.

Supporting Creative Collaborations

Programmes such as the International Collaboration Grants, Anhar and Beyond Literature Borders offer grants to cultural organisations, festivals, artists, and researchers. These grants facilitate collaborations between Egyptian and UK organisations, resulting in the creation of new art aimed at diverse audiences. Open calls for grants are annouced on British Council social media.

Showcasing Opportunities

By supporting the showcasing of creative talent through festivals in the UK and Egypt, we enable artists to present their work to new audiences, breaking down barriers and influencing perceptions of different artistic genres across different spaces. We also encourage new approaches to promoting increased audience engagement.
