Connecting with UK colleges through our Going Global Partnerships programme helped Anas Ait Laachir transform the quality of education at his own institution.
Anas is an educator at IFMEREE, Morocco’s Training Institutes for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. He discovered our Going Global Partnerships programme through a professional network focused on advancing green skills. Immediately, he was drawn to its mission of shaping a more sustainable future in education through knowledge exchange and collaboration.
Anas was especially excited by the chance to work with UK institutions – and, soon after expressing his interest, he was invited to represent IFMEREE and do just that.
Partnering with UK colleges gave Anas valuable insights into best practices in renewable energy education. He worked closely with UK experts on curriculum development, practical training and student engagement. This showed him the importance of integrating hands-on experience into education to prepare students for real-world challenges.
These insights have helped Anas to transform the learning environment at IFMEREE into a dynamic space focused on solving pressing issues. He has implemented new teaching practices, launched collaborative research projects and made improvements to practical training sessions, building the quality of IFMEREE’s programmes. As a result, students are now better equipped for careers in the renewable energy sector.
Looking ahead, Anas aims to grow IFMEREE’s network of international collaborators and further innovate their curriculum. He is hopeful that these efforts will contribute to a sustainable future for Morocco and beyond.
‘The journey with the British Council has shown me that true progress in education comes from collaboration and shared learning. Together, we can build a more sustainable future.’ Anas Ait Laachir, educator, Morocco
