Satya Priya Anand’s journey with the British Council began at the age of eight, where a library membership ignited her passion for learning. Today, she is an Academic Manager overseeing three branches, reflecting a career of continuous growth, development, and dedication to shaping the future of education.
Satya Priya Anand’s connection with the British Council started early when she joined its library as a child. What began as a push from her mother to develop a love for reading soon became the foundation of a lifelong relationship with the organisation. Her passion for learning led her to pursue teaching qualifications, including CELTA in 2012, where she found herself making connections and gaining confidence as an educator.
In 2012, Satya completed the CELTA program, a one-month intensive course that trains teachers to teach English to speakers of other languages. The experience not only reignited her passion for teaching but also connected her with a network of educators and mentors, many of whom she remains in touch with to this day. Soon after, Satya joined the British Council as a freelance teacher, and it wasn’t long before she became a full-time member of the teaching staff.
The British Council provided Satya with numerous opportunities for professional growth. She was sponsored to complete her DELTA qualification, as well as online teaching and teacher training certifications. With these qualifications in hand, she quickly rose through the ranks, eventually being promoted to Academic Manager for one branch. Today, she manages three branches, overseeing a range of teaching programs and supporting the development of other teachers.
Satya’s experience has taken her beyond the UAE, leading teacher development initiatives and teacher conferences across the Middle East and Africa. As she looks forward, she aims to take on broader regional leadership roles while continuing to nurture future generations of learners and educators, just as the British Council has supported her throughout her journey.
